VR Without a Headset

You can open Sparksbud's 360° worlds in a browser on a phone, tablet or computer, with no headset or app installation. The world appears on your screen; drag or swipe to turn your view. A compatible headset and immersive WebXR browser let you enter the same world in VR, where turning your head changes what you see.

You don't need a VR headset to explore Sparksbud's 360° worlds. Open a world in a current browser on your phone, tablet or computer, then drag or swipe to look around. This is a screen view rendered with WebGL. A headset with an immersive WebXR browser adds a separate Enter VR option.

Start on a screen

  1. 1

    Pick a world

Open the worlds directory and choose a place that sounds inviting. Skybloom keeps you in a flower meadow above a mirror sea, so it's an easy first stop.

  2. 2

    Open the 360° view

Choose the world's Enter link. If the experience opens in a regular view, choose 360° from the view controls. You can also go straight to Skybloom in 360°.

  3. 3

    Turn and pause

Drag with a mouse or trackpad, swipe on a touch screen, or use the arrow keys to look around. On a computer, Space pauses or resumes movement and M switches sound on or off. The on-screen controls let you change worlds and adjust the scene.

Use short drags or swipes, then let the view rest on one landmark before turning again. You'll see more than you would from one fast spin.

Screen view and headset view

Both views use the same world, but they present it differently. On a screen, Sparksbud draws the scene in a browser canvas with WebGL, and your drag or swipe changes the camera direction. In a headset, its Enter VR control requests an immersive WebXR session; the headset tracks your head and presents a view to each eye. Opening the screen view does not start a WebXR session.

A second place to try

For a different mood, Aurorafy places you by a northern lake. On a screen, drag slowly to follow the moving light across the sky. You can switch between worlds without installing anything.

Open Aurorafy after Skybloom and use the same slow drag in both. The controls stay familiar while the mood and movement change.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use Sparksbud without a headset?

Yes. Open its worlds in a current phone, tablet or computer browser and drag or swipe to look around. A headset is only needed for the immersive Enter VR mode.

Is the screen view actually WebXR?

No. Sparksbud's screen view is rendered in a browser canvas with WebGL. Enter VR requests a separate immersive WebXR session on a supported headset.

Do I need to install an app?

No. Open a Sparksbud world by link in your browser. The screen view starts there, and a supported headset browser can offer Enter VR after the world loads.

How do I look around on a computer?

Drag across the scene with your pointer or use the arrow keys in a 360° world. Space pauses or resumes motion, and M switches sound on or off.

How do I look around on a phone?

Swipe across the 360° scene to turn your view. The world stays on your phone's screen; it doesn't become an immersive headset view.

Why is Enter VR unavailable?

The browser may not support immersive WebXR, you may not be using a headset, or the world may still be loading. You can keep using the screen view and check the browser support guide for compatible setups.
